A Jerusaelm Based Outreach to the
World
The following prayer points are updated every week following a local gathering of Intercessors For Israel.
October 20th, 2006
1. The Torah portion for this Shabbat is Genesis 1:1-6:8 . We rejoiced in Genesis 3:15, the very first prophetic utterance of the gospel.
"And I will put enmity between you [Satan] and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it [the Seed of the woman = Yeshua] shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." (Genesis 3:15)
Bless You Almighty God that right from the initial sin in the Garden of Eden, You had a plan to save multitudes. "
the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." (Revelation 13:8b)
2. Today is Al Quds, Jerusalem Day, throughout much of the Islamic world. Moslems are praying and committing themselves to seeing Jerusalem come back under Islamic control. For your information, Jerusalem is not even mentioned in the Koran, yet is mentioned in the Bible over 800 times.
"I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: you that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give Him no rest, till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the earth." (Isaiah 62:6-7)
Father, we ask that You would glorify Yourself in this city in and through Your Son, Yeshua, the One whom You have set on Your holy hill of Zion (Psalm 2:6)
"Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion , on the sides of the north, the city of the great King." (Psalms 48:1-2; see also Matthew 5:35 )
We declare this is the city of the great King, the God of Israel not the city of Allah or any other false gods.
Please help Israelis of all persuasions to embrace this city as their eternal capital.
Restore complete control of the Temple Mount to Israel and do not allow the building of a 5 thminaret up there.
In fact, shake the Temple Mount and bring down all altars built in honor of Allah.
Shake up the Jerusalem Body of Messiah so that what remains is only of Your kingdom.
"See that you refuse not Him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaks from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now He has promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire." (Hebrews 12:25-29)
3. The IDF does not seem to be preparing and learning the lessons from the Lebanon war, although there are warning of another war coming on this nation soon.In the natural, this is an existential threat and something we must press God in prayer about.
Lord, shake up and wake up the IDF with as much mercy as possible.
Especially, the IDF's leadership needs to be awaken or removed. [Since Ariel Sharon was one of modern Israel 's greatest generals, is his coma a picture of where the IDF leadership is at?]
Please trade Defense Minister Amir Peretz and Commander of the Army, Dan Halutz with men who actually understand what Israel needs to do to be prepared for the future.
Separate the army generals from the political scene. May their aim be to protect this nation and not protect a possible future political career.
[This next verse ties in our previous prayer burden with this one. Also, in Hebrew, the word for "governors" is allufim, which is the modern Hebrew word for "generals." And, "on the right hand and on the left" scripturally means to the South and the North. ]
"In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem." (Zechariah 12:6)
Lord, do what You promised in the day that You make Jerusalem a stone of stumbling to the nations. Make the general of Judah like torches.
Thank You for the Lebanese War as painful as it was and still is for it is a wake up call to the army and to all the rest of this nation.
4. The nation of Israel as a whole is not prepared, because of years of deceptive peace plans and much corruption in high places.
Lord, with much fear, we ask You to send Your cleansing fire on this nation from the top to the bottom, from politicians to street sweepers, from the rich to the poor and from the sabr'im [native born Israelis] to the olim [immigrants].
Cleanse or remove this government.
"But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appears? for He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness." (Malachi 3:2-3)
Call forth the Esthers who are willing to intercede before the King of Kings for the life of this people.
As we look again at Zechariah 12:6, we are so blessed that You are the One who has promised to do exactly what we are asking for. Therefore we will continue to ask until we see it come to pass. "And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, he hears us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him." (1 John 5:14-15)
5. The Body of Messiah in Israel especially needs to be awake.
"But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the time is." (Mark 13:32-33)
Lord, send that cleansing fire on Your bride as well.
Remove from us the delusion of "peace in our time."
Prepare the Body for war both the spiritual which is raging right now and the physical where we will need to be exactly where You want us to be.
Help Your Body both here and in the nations to not be more spiritual than You and show Your Body the battle over Your physical land has extreme eternal repercussions.
6. Those extreme eternal repercussions have all to do with the salvation of this people for God's glory.
"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." (Zechariah 12:10)
Abba, we see that this battle over Jerusalem is really an attempt to stop all Israel from looking on the One we pierced. Cause this truth to be shouted from the rooftops of all congregations throughout Your kingdom.
Lord, may Yeshua remove His "Egyptian" clothing and reveal Himself to His brothers the Jewish people (Genesis 45:1 cp. Isaiah 45:15).
Son of David, come and rule among Your people.
Thank you for your persistent intercession for this nation and people at this time. Here is a promise from God for you to hold onto: "Rejoice with Jerusalem , and be glad with her, all you that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you that mourn for her: That you may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that you may
be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus says the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall you suck, you shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem." (Isaiah 66:10-13)
